I have a Computer engineer background, so I had the technical knowledge of building a product. But when you are building your own company you need to grow your skills in other fields.

I committed myself to learn any single aspect of managing a “Startup”, from creating the proper culture for its employees, to getting to know the client you are serving and of course about fund raising/management.

Here are the books that help me most on this journey:

  1. Lean Startup (Eric Ries) https://amzn.to/2lk5lH0 very interesting methodology to build your company around.
  2. Don’t make me think (Steve Krug) https://amzn.to/2kQKxHa How to design products that perform better human-computer interactions.
  3. Venture Deals (Brad Feld & Jason Mendelson) https://amzn.to/2l95NrR everything you need to know about fundraising.
  4. The hard thing about hard things (Ben Horowitz) https://amzn.to/2mikjOb How to face problems as a CEO.
  5. Idea, Producto y Negocio (Justo Hidalgo) https://amzn.to/2mIdiWT How to transform your idea into a profitable business.
  6. Creativity Inc. (Ed Catmull) https://amzn.to/2l8pn7C How to grow your company and create culture.
  7. Hooked (Nir Eyal) https://amzn.to/2mKUNRG How to build habit-forming products.

You need also to surround you with people with a similar mindset that are going through the same process than you, I had great support from local communities like Tetuan Valley. Find the nearest to you a become an active member, it always pays off.
