Resources to build a startup

A few years ago I decided to turn an app into a business. I was completely lost and I didn’t know where to start. So if you are at that point I hope this post will help you in your journey to find out how to do it. Disclaimer: “I’m still in that path.”

Nowadays there is a huge hype about the startup ecosystem here in Europe, but first of all, we need to differentiate between what is a startup and what is any other kind of business. There are plenty of definitions about what it is a startup like:

A “startup” is a company that is confused about 1) what its product is, 2) who its customers are, and 3) how to make money. As soon as it figures out all 3 things, it ceases to be a startup and then becomes a real business. Except most times, that doesn’t happen. By Dave McClure

But I will narrow more the definition so for me:

A startup is a technology-based company with an exponential growth possibility.

Ant there are two main words:

  • Technology base: its main asset should be its technology.
  • Company: should be created to make money, not only to grow its user base.
